Ken Wilber, Junpo, and Me
Well folks, the book is out in the world.
I'm very happy to announce When the Buddha Needs Therapy was #1 on Amazon's "Spiritualism" category (although, if you've read the book, you'll find this as ironic as I do).
I wanted to share a final story about Junpo and me. This one involved Ken Wilber and Junpo, two grizzled spiritual warriors who I had the honor of sitting with (with Doshin Nelson Roshi) for 3 hours, back around 2011.
Wisely, Doshin and I stayed entirely silent and let those two giants talk. The territory they covered was astounding. Ken and Junpo moved openly and freely over the depths of their spiritual insights and the farthest reaches and implications of true ego death. (The entire conversation was recorded, and I will transcribe it sometime in the next few months for posterity's sake and send it out to you.)
But it was the end of the afternoon where Junpo was truly, fully himself. I spoke about it in response to a question at my recent book reading, at Boulder Bookstore:
